Three days in Casablanca and Rabat: an easy itinerary

  • 1 min read

Three days is a good length of time for Casablanca. You can see the city without rushing and fit in a day in the capital. Stay in the city centre or near Casa Port for the easiest train connections.

Day 1: the mosque, the medina and the sea

Take a morning tour of the Hassan II Mosque, then explore the Old Medina. In the late afternoon, head to the Ain Diab Corniche to walk by the sea and see the white shrine of Sidi Abderrahman if the tide is low. Stay for dinner and the sunset.

Day 2: Art Deco and the Habous

Join a guided walk or follow our Art Deco walking route through the city centre, with a stop at the Central Market. After lunch, go to the Quartier Habous for shopping and pastries, then relax in a hammam or the Arab League Park. In the evening, try one of the restaurants in Maarif or Gauthier, or make a booking for Rick’s Café.

Day 3: a day in Rabat

Take the train to Rabat, about an hour away. Begin at the Kasbah of the Udayas, then see the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Walk through the medina along Rue des Consuls, and visit the ruins of Chellah if you have the time.

The Mausoleum of Mohammed V is one of the great sights of a day in Rabat.

If you have longer

Swap Rabat or add an extra day for a trip to El Jadida and Azemmour, or carry on by train to Marrakech, Fez or Tangier.

Tips

  • Book Al Boraq tickets in advance if you are travelling on to Tangier.
  • Pack a layer for the evening, as the Atlantic breeze can be cool.
  • Monday closures are common at museums, so check before you go.
